If there’s one thing we know about living in Arizona, it’s that Arizona has plenty of scorpions. While it’s also home to some of the best weather, people, and places in the US, it’s also got plenty of bug issues- issues that are easy to fix if you just know what you’re looking for.

The Scorpions of Arizona

Over thirty species of scorpion inhabit Arizona, but the ones you need to be the most worried about are the Arizona Bark Scorpion and the Desert Hairy Scorpion . The Arizona Bark Scorpion is actually the most dangerous scorpion in Arizona and the only one with lethal venom. They’re typically about 1 to 3 inches long, and light brown in color. They have a long tail, like most scorpions, with a dangerous stinger on the end. The Desert Hairy Scorpion is less dangerous, but it is one of the biggest scorpions in the US, which can be alarming for many homeowners. Desert Hairy scorpions can get up to seven inches long, and are typically yellow or brown in color.

Tips for Scorpion Control

To get rid of those pesky arachnids, there are plenty of ways to make your home inhospitable. Try moving log piles or greenery buildup away from any buildings on your property, and make sure that you don’t have piles of mulch or trash lying around on your lawn. Use tight-fitting screens on your doors and windows, and make sure your house is weather-sealed
